Recently I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Gail Zelitcky and her partner Kristine of " Women over 70 reimagined" podcast Feel free to hear my thoughts on maturing/ aging. Along with how to move on when life throws you a curve.
What is this love, for pink? The color of pink gives us the feeling of sugar and spice and every thing nice. Pink also means hope. Hope that every thing is going to be alright... As seen through the eyes of Breast Cancer Survivors . The loving feeling of hope !
The very first time I remembered seeing the color of pink , I was eight years old, and had received a Schwinn , two wheeled bicycle from my parents, as a gift for my birthday . It was a beautiful radiant pink bike. I already knew how to ride a bike. Between my mother, other relatives , and the neighborhood children teaching me, I knew how to do this. I probably had seen the color pink before. Like in coloring books or on doll's dresses or other toys . But this was the first time it had an impact on me. that I can remember... By Donna C. Lawrence

Years later, while still in grammar school at Kozminski Elementary School, 936 E. 54th St. on the South side of Chicago Illinois , near Hyde Park. Our class would go to woodshop on Fridays (. It was either sixth or seventh grade.) The teacher had instructed us how to build a lamp from shapes of wood we had selected. Some basic shapes , like oblong, square, round, triangle, etc. We glued the pieces together, inserted metal tubing and electrical wire, along with attaching a socket and a plug. Next we were encouraged to paint the lamps from various colors of paint. Such as white, black, brown, red, blue, green, violet, and pink. I chose pink . I was very excited that I had put together a lamp and it worked. but I was ecstatic how beautiful it had become . From plain unpainted pieces of wood to a wonderfully pink lamp of my very own... THAT my very first painting pink item. By Donna C. Lawrence
I just received some wonderful news .there was an article Feb 16 2021, in The Wall Street Journal about the color of pink. Soft pink became the color of the year. As stated by Benjamin Moore Paints. they noticed that people needed something beautiful and comforting, yet an up-beat mood that spoke to our emotions in challenging times. It was used in decorating from home offices to powder rooms. How exciting it was to hear that being published , WOW!
Not long ago I had the wonderful honor and the pleasure of being interviewed by Robin Joyce Tillotson of "This I Do for Me" podcast, ( the podcast is on this website.) Ms. Tillotson is a awesome interviewer. She is a patient person who really makes the process very comfortable and easy. Her follow through is amazing
Painting it Pink # 2*
Have you ever purchased an item that was very beautiful , but you felt it was missing that certain something ? Well, that is how I felt about a very beautiful glass pedestal table ,( with metal art-fully crafted legs) , that I had bought. At first I painted the legs gold. The table was gorgeous , even stunning. I really liked it but I did not LOVE it. It did not get to the feeling I wanted, close but not quite the umph I was looking for.
I had been wearing the color pink for a while. So I thought why not try pink ?. Instead of wondering about it , do it. What could it hurt? I could re-do it if I was not pleased with the results
So , I found the shade of pink that I loved. Then went to Lowe's paint department. Had them mix one gallon of paint, got a variety of brushes , some rags, a drop cloth roll and paint sticks , for stirring the brand new paint.
. I was excited and afraid all at the same time. I brought it all home, cleared the area , put down drop cloth, opened up the paint . laid out a selection of brushes, along with rags, and paint sticks . I then proceeded to stirring the paint to the count of 100. I now went to work covering over the gold color that I had previously done.
First I did one coat of pink paint, ( on the legs) let that dry . Then I put a single pink flower design on the glass top. Next a second coat of pink paint . It was the second coat that did it. WOW I was flabbergasted. You could have knocked me over with a feather.. It was wonderfully awesome, magnificent . It made me feel so much happier. It had made my day...My first adult Painting it Pink creation. By Donna C. Lawrence

Mon. May 9 - Wed. May 11 , I participated in The Rule Your Day Challenge, on line , in the Facebook group Rule Your Day Challenge. With Pastor Joel and Pastor Victoria Osteen , based on his book Rule your Day. Hosted by Pedro Adao. The topics were rule your thoughts, your words, and your actions . It was awesome, inspirational, encouraging, enlightening, and informative.
It was great being with faith filled people, who were supportive and not judge- mental , a safe environment. I learned, to become more of who God created me to be. the mind set has to change. When negative thoughts come( and they come to everyone), ask yourself," is this what God says about you?" God says you are the child of the almighty God. My" take a way" for this is " to erase a thought you have to replace the thought".
I learned, rule your day, enjoy your day, don't just endure your day. You can not control other people but you CAN control your thoughts." Keep your mind so filled with faith". Remind yourself "God you are directing my path."
We were given daily assignments. So, regarding rule your actions. We had to do something that is uncomfortable. Take ourself out of our comfort zone. I posted a photo of me, along with one of our assignments ,WHEW, But I did it . We were being taught to push through FEAR. That a lot of times fear is an opportunity to good. This was an incredible experience. I had never been in a Facebook group, LIVE It was WONDERFUL. By Donna C. Lawrence***

. Life will get better. Today the sun was shining . What a awesome sight. I realized the sun is always shining, even if there are clouds in front of it .That is what it does., shines.
The world has been through other tough times before ,and survived them .I believe what makes it seem different is we are now living during this tough time, in our lives. Things will get better ! I know it will. Nothing, no-thing last forever.
Find the good !. Spring is coming ! Notice the grass is getting pretty again. . I saw the green part, the leaf part of the tulips, I had planted , coming up.. Birds are flying around and singing. I even saw a Robin red breast. Have you noticed the days are longer. Daylight begins earlier. ,while dusk comes later then before . Look at the sunset, the beautiful colors. Enjoy the quiet. Enjoy the peace. And just Be !

.I am a 77 year old women who has re -imagined and recreated my OWN life. And I paint everything pink. As I remember, I have exercised most of my life .Ever since High School. Which was at Emil G. Hirsch High School , Whose address was 7740 South Ingleside Ave . It was During the late 1950's, On the south side of Chicago, Chicago , Illinois. (1957-1958). And I was 14 years old.
. There was a gym teacher whose name was Ms Kulp. It was during the time girls wore one piece gym suits to gym, usually green, Inspection was on Mondays .It was a part of our grade. Our gym suits had to be clean and pressed, some of the girls even starched them and our gym shoes were to be polished and crisp looking. At that time gym shoes were white, low cut for girls and black, high tops for boys. . I think the boys wore blue shorts with white t shirts . I say" i think " because there was girls gym and boys gym . .
Ms Kulp taught us to do knee lifts and leg lifts by using the equipment on the walls, also games like square dodge ball , in- door baseball, and other games . There was swimming, in our school pool . I did not know how to swim , then but I did get in the pool wearing the tank suits, we all wore. Plus going swimming. was going to mess up my hair. Which I got pressed every Friday right after school . But what I really remember and enjoyed was calisthenics. Ms Kulp beat out the rhythm by a stick on the floor 1-2-3-4 ,1-2-3-4 This was my introduction to exercise and the love of it. . This kept us in shape so that we could handle sports and other activities....Thank you ! ... From the desk of Donna C. Lawrence , Owner of Painting it Pink Events : Bye for now .!
. You know, some times things or thoughts are not flowing. Then I remember gratitude.. To be grateful for the GOOD. . I am grateful that I have people in my life who help me to become more.of who I am.. And people who show me life in a way for the greater good for all. These are ALL phenomenal people .....By Donna C. Lawrence a 77 year old women who has re-imagined and recreated my own. life I paint everything pink. Thank You !
Greetings, I am a 77 year old woman and I think we can help each other by being more friendly , more connected.. It can be by doing something simple like saying "Good morning " , " Good afternoon ", or "Hi , how are you " ? Look one another in the eye , greet them. We can all do this . It would bring out the spirituality in each of us. This would lift their energy level up and yours too. by you talking to them It makes you feel unbelievably good too, speaking to them. It is like a "high"..
Be kind , be compassionate, help bring up the planet's energy level . We all need to be connected. Even if we do not know it. We all are spiritual beings.Even if we do not know that either. Smile from under that mask. Laugh more even thou you are wearing a mask. and practicing 6 feet social distancing..
Call each other on the telephone, to check on one another . This is a good way to make them be connected . This also lifts THEIR energy level. . Many of us are feeling isolated . So a phone call is nice. Greet the clerks at the stores. Talking is a way of connecting . As the birds sing we can talk. Speak to each other. GOD IS HERE . Awaken your God=Self. Talk with each other.. Laugh , Laughter will also lift your mood . You do not need a reason to laugh , just do it . If for only to make you feel better. and others may laugh because you are laughing.
Reach out to connect, celebrate , talk, sing, dance, laugh. All these things will help make you and others feel better , Let's link up.!
